About Us
Our mission is to promote sport as a pathway to community cohesion, youth development, wellbeing, and opportunity for everyone. While we are proud to champion Kabaddi as a growing and structured sport in the region, our work also extends across a range of other sports and physical activities, creating opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to participate, develop, and thrive.
At MUSC, we believe sport has the unique ability to break down barriers, build confidence, and foster a genuine sense of belonging. Whether through Kabaddi, football, cricket, fitness programmes, youth engagement sessions, or community sporting events, our aim is to bring people together and create lasting positive impact.
Our programmes are designed to be inclusive and accessible to all, regardless of age, background, ability, or experience. We are committed to creating welcoming spaces where individuals and communities can connect, grow in confidence, and build stronger relationships through shared activity.
We are equally committed to strong and representative leadership. We believe that a diverse Board and leadership team strengthens governance, improves decision-making, and builds trust within the community. We value differences in skills, experience, perspectives, and lived experiences, and we are committed to ensuring our leadership reflects the communities we serve.
Through sport, education, and community engagement, MUSC continues to champion unity, opportunity, and lasting social impact across the Northeast.

Our Story
Mariners United Sporting Club CIC was born out of a powerful need for community healing and unity following social unrest. The idea was sparked by a group of Indian youth who were passionate about sports and determined to create a positive force in the aftermath of riots in Middlesbrough.
At the heart of this movement was Cllr Aaron Roy, a frontline NHS nurse and Hartlepool councillor, whose own vehicle was damaged during what was intended to be a peaceful protest. Rather than respond with division, he channeled that experience into action believing that sport can be a bridge, not a barrier.
With the belief that “Sports Unite People”, MUSC was formally registered as a Community Interest Company (CIC) in 2025, with a mission to:
• Foster community cohesion through inclusive sports
• Promote lesser-known sports like Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, and Badminton
• Offer a platform for BAME youth and underrepresented communities
• Challenge racism, break social silos, and build grassroots talent pathways
The CIC’s guiding philosophy “Cohesion Through Sports” continues to shape its programs and partnerships. MUSC is now actively engaged in school outreach, tournament participation, and regional sports development, with Kabaddi at its core and a growing network across the North East.
